Summary

A group of rectilinear structures are visible on 1940s aerial photographs on either side of Cattistock Lane, on the northwest side of Maiden Newton. The features may be part of a Second World War anti aircraft battery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

A group of rectilinear structures are visible on 1940s aerial photographs on either side of Cattistock Lane, on the northwest side of Maiden Newton <4>. The features comprise of seven 9.8m by 6m rectilinear huts positioned in a row on the northeast side of the lane and two 17.8m by 6m huts on the south side. Gun emplacements and nissen huts are recorded at this location by the Pillbox Study Group and these features may be assoicated with those features, forming part of an anti aircraft battery <5>. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

They are built over and no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery.
