Full Description
Probable barrow at 600 feet OD on the North side of Daw's Hill, at ST 572004. It is oval in shape, 130 feet E-W by 100 feet being entirely surrounded by a ditch 20 feet wide. Two other barrrows lie to the South, one at a field junction. (1)
An oval mound with an outer ditch is visible as an earthwork on a 1947 aerial photograph taken on Daws Hill to the southwest of Wraxall <2>. The feature comprises an oval 25m by 16.3m mound encircled by a 4.5m wide outer ditch. It may be a barrow of Neolithic or Bronze Age date, of which three are recorded on Daws Hill (NRHE Hob UID 882560). The feature was digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. It is still visible on Google Earth imagery.
