Full Description

Two sets of double parallel linear ditches are visible as cropmarks on a 1947 aerial photograph taken to the north of Slough Farm, Rampisham [1]. The features are positioned just under 25m apart on a SSE-NNW axis which aligns with the historic field boundaries to either side. They appear to overlie an earlier enclosure to the east (MDO43195; Hob UID 882563) and are sited over the site of a possible Roman villa (Hob UID 195774). It is likely the features post-date both sites and they may be historic field boundaries of possible post medieval date. They were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. The features are still visible as cropmarks on 2015 Google Earth imagery [2].
