Full Description
The remains of a medieval field system is visible as earthworks on current Lidar imagery taken to the northeast of Sandhills, Cattistock [1]. The features comprise lynchets, field boundaries, strip field and possibly trackways and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. Some of the features are visible on a 1970 aerial photograph [2]. It is possible that some of the lynchets, on an E-W axis, are earlier in origin as they run perpendicular to the medieval field pattern, but this is not certain.
