Full Description

An area of old orchard is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1947 to the south of Frome St Quintin [1]. Parallel ridges and a number of surviving trees are visible in 1947, showing depletion and disuse from the late 19th century, where the orchard is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map [2]. The features were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. The southern and southwestern boundary of the orchard are visible as cropmarks on 2020 Google Earth imagery, although the orchard area itself is largely replaced by modern farm buildings [3].
