Full Description
Structures associated with a possible Second World War radar station are visible on 1940s aerial photographs on Lankham Bottom, Cattistock (1). The features comprise of two buildings, one main building and a smaller ancillary building or structure, contained within a rectangular walled enclosure. A trackway accesses the site from the road to the northwest. A long narrow hardstanding just under 200m long extends southwest from the enclosure and a tall pylon or tower is visible at the south western end of this on a 1947 aerial photograph (1). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
A modern pumping station now occupies the site and may re-use the main building.
