Summary

A sub-circular ditched feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs to the northeast of Cattistock. The feature cuts an older linear bank that forms part of a prehistoric field system (MDO685). The pit may be a post medieval extractive pit, possibly a chalk pit. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

A sub-circular ditched feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs to the northeast of Cattistock (1). The feature cuts an older linear bank that forms part of a prehistoric field system (MDO685). The pit may be a post medieval extractive pit, possibly a chalk pit. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The feature is still visible on Google Earth imagery.
