An old chalk pit is recorded to the east of Cattistock on the OS 1st Edition map (1). The feature is visible as a 35m by 25m elongated scarped earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project (2).
The feature is still visible on Google Earth imagery.
