Summary

Groups of sub-circular ditched features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on Ayles's Hill, Sydling St Nicholas. The features are recorded as old chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map and are probably post medieval in date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

Four sub-circular ditched features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on Ayles's Hill, Sydling St Nicholas (1, 2). The features are recorded as old chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map and are probably post medieval in date (3). They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The features are still visible on Google Earth imagery.
