Full Description

A sub-circular ditched feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs at Up Sydling, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The feature comprises a 40m by 31.5m irregular depression in the corner of a field on the south side of Up Sydling. It is recorded as a sand pit on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The feature is still visible as a cropmark on Google Earth imagery.
