Full Description
A series of sub-circular ditched features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on Crown Point, Sydling St Nicholas (1, 2). One of the features is recorded as a chalk pit and one an old chalk pit on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The remaining features may also be chalk pits, probably of post medieval date. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The features are still variously visible as earthworks and cropmarks on Google Earth imagery.
