Summary

Two sub-circular ditched features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the west side of Little Wood, Cerne Abbas. The features are recorded as an old quarry on the OS 1st Edition map and are probably of post medieval date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

Two sub-circular ditched features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the west side of Little Wood, Cerne Abbas (1, 2). The easternmost of the features is recorded as an old quarry on the OS 1st Edition map and the features are probably of post medieval to possibly modern date (3). They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The features are still visible on Google Earth imagery, the eastern of the two features now under trees.
