Summary

A concentration of sub-circular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the north side of Long Ash Lane, Frome St Quintin. Several of the features are recorded as old chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

A concentration of sub-circular ditched and scarped features are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on the north side of Long Ash Lane, Frome St Quintin (1-3). Several of the features are recorded as old chalk pits on the OS 1st Edition map (4). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The features are still visible as cropmarks on current Google Earth imagery.
