Full Description
A banked linear feature is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs within a field to the east of Church Farm, Batcombe (1). The feature comprises a 40m section of broad low bank, slightly curvilinear in character and extending into a historic field from the northern field edge. It may be a field boundary of potetnially prehistoric (Iron Age?) date, although a later (Medieval?) origin is also possible. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The feature is still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
