Areas of ridge and ditched cultivation are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs within fields at Batcombe. The features are considered likely to be those of medieval broad ridge and furrow. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Areas of ridge and ditched cultivation are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs within fields at Batcombe (1). The features are considered likely to be those of medieval broad ridge and furrow. The earthworks of associated field boundaries, also of probable medieval origin, are also visible (1). The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The field boundaries, but not the ridge and furrow, are still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
