Full Description
An area of narrow ridged and ditched cultivation marks is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs in the area of Lankham Botttom, Cattistock (1, 2). The features may be those of post medieval ridge and furrow cultivation. A narrow linear banked and ditched feature is visble as an earthwork running along the south side of the cultivation area. The feature may be a field boundary or trackway of possible post medival date - it appears to overlie an older banked earthwork associated with an Iron Age/Romano-British field system in the area (MDO42982) and may be broadly contemporary with the cultivation marks. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.
The features are still visible as earthworks on current Google Earth imagery.
