Summary

A large shallow sub-oval area of disturbed/rough ground is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs on the west side of South Field Hill, Sydling St Nicholas. The feature may be a shallow post medieval extractive pit or quarry, although it is possibly natural in origin. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

A large shallow sub-oval area of disturbed/rough ground is visible as an earthwork on 1940s aerial photographs on the west side of South Field Hill, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The feature may be a shallow post medieval extractive pit or quarry, although it is possibly natural in origin. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

The feature is no longer visible on current Google Earth imagery.
