Full Description
Banked linear features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on field slopes either side of Drift Road, Maiden Newton (1). The features are considered likely to be lynchets of probable medieval date. The features on the south side are situated on the north western edge of an extensive Iron Age/Romano-British field system on Fore Hill (MDO42898) and it is possible that they are outliers associated with that. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The features are still visible on current Google Earth imagery.
