Multiple small sub-circular pits are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs on South Field Down, Sydling St Nicholas (1). The features are considered to be small post medieval chalk quarry pits. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project. The features are still visible as earthworks on current Google Earth imagery (2).
