Summary

An irregular sub-circular banked feature is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs on Grimstone Down, Stratton. The feature may be a Bronze Age barrow, possibly a bowl barrow, recorded at this location (NRHE Hob UID 453197). It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Frome AIM project.

Full Description

A bowl barrow, 38ft diameter and 3ft high is situated near the north edge of Stratton parish, about 1/4 mile north-west of Jackman's Cross. (2,3)

A grass-covered bowl barrow, 13 metres in diameter and 1.8 metres high with hollow centre is situated in the angle of a 'Celtic' field.The ground surface is irregular on the east side of the barrow. (4)
