Monument record MDO42700 - Second World War road block, Rothsay Road, Talbot Heath, Poole

Please read our .

Summary

The Pillbox Study Group note the site of a probable Second World War roadblock on Rothsay Road, somewhere at its crossing of the Weymouth to London Waterloo railway. No associated defences are visible on the RAF vertical aerial photographs dated January 1947, but the roadblock was presumably intended to control a potential north-south route across the railway, which is in cutting on this part of Talbot Heath.
