Summary

The Pillbox Study Group note the site of a probable Second World War roadblock on Churchfield Road just west of its junction with Bird's Hill Road, inferred from RAF aerial photographs dated January 1947. The roadblock is associated with a system of concrete anti-tank blocks running from Poole Park in the south, northwest towards Longfleet, following the western side of Bird's Hill Road.

Full Description

The roadblock is unlikely to have comprised any permanent infrastructure. It is not visible on modern aerial photographs, and has been removed.
