Summary

The Pillbox Study Group note a former type FW3/22 pillbox at this location, clearly visible north of the railway line and west of Gloucester Road on Royal Air Force arial photography dated January 1947. It is also listed by M A Edgington.

Full Description

The pillbox was presumably intended to hold the Gloucester Road crossing of the Weymouth to London Waterloo railway, which lies in a cutting at this point. The pillbox has been removed and the area is now part of the yard of a builders' merchant.
