The Pillbox Study Group note that a what appears to be a Second World War Type FW3/26 pillbox is visible aon RAF vertical aerial photographs dated 1948, at the western end of the southern breakwater of The Cobb (as extant in the mid-20th century).

The pillbox has been removed and no trace can be seen above ground level.
