Full Description
A probable Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a soilmark and a cropmark on aerial photographs. The site is centred at ST 9335 1049 and is defined by a light coloured circular macula which is partially enclosed to the north by an incomplete ring ditch. The site is probably the plough levelled remains of the chalk mound of a Bronze Age round barrow, several of which are known in this area. The barrow mound measures 23m in diameter and probably continues beneath the extant field wall which divides the soilmark. Part of the surrounding ring ditch is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs taken in 1969. There is no sign of any internal feature such as a funerary deposit. <1, 2>
Plough-levelled round barrow visible as a circular annular cropmark with an estimated diameter of c 27 metres on aerial photographs dated 2017 and 2018 <4, 5>. No mound material or associated features could be discerned. The feature is also visible as a circular soilmark c 26m in diameter on an aerial photograph dated 1982 <2> and was digitally plotted from this source during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM project.
