Summary

'Old Chalk Pits' are marked on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map in the vicinity of Fortunes Wood. This area is under trees on all available aerial photographs and therefore the features were not visible. Two smaller partially plough-levelled pits were identified to the west and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.

'Old Chalk Pits' are marked on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map in the vicinity of Fortunes Wood [1]. This area is under trees on all available aerial photographs and therefore the features were not visible. Two smaller partially plough-levelled pits were identified to the west and were digitally plotted from aerial photographs [2] during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
