Full Description
'Old Chalk Pits' are marked on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map in the vicinity of Fortunes Wood [1]. This area is under trees on all available aerial photographs and therefore the features were not visible. Two smaller partially plough-levelled pits were identified to the west and were digitally plotted from aerial photographs [2] during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
