'Old Chalk Pits' are marked on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map on the eastern edge of Old Wood, Rampisham [1]. Two large chalk pits are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs [2] and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
