Full Description
[Area centred at SY5777 9504] A small field system of field banks and lynchets forming irregular fields of IA/RB type. These are very pronounced in the field to the E of WYNFORD HOUSE. Running from NE-SW on the N.W edge of the system is a terrace way which averages 3.5m wide. The system is under grass, and the southern field is visible on
AP CPE/UK/2431/4147. <1>
The fragmentary remains of an Iron Age/RB field system are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery <2> to the east of Higher Wynford House, Wynford Eagle. The features cover an area of 20 hectares and were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
