Full Description

[SY 56929599] BR A semi-circular earthwork formed by a bank 2.0m wide and 0.4m high. Only the N and E quadrants of the earthwork are visible; the W side is now occupied by a modern field bank, the S side destroyed. The diameter of the grass covered earthwork is 11.0m, and the interior is slightly depressed - at a maximum 0.3m deep.

Origin and purpose of this earthwork are not clear. It is situated on the crest of a ridge, and could possibly be a barrow virtually destroyed and dug away.

On the E side of the earthwork are traces of a sunken track, 3.5m wide and 0.3m deep. There is no evidence of habitation in the vicinity, except for an IA/RB field system, and the earthwork seems rather too large and isolated to be a hut circle. <1>
