Full Description
An 'Old Chalk Pit' is marked on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map to the northwest of Shatcombe Farm, Wynford Eagle [1]. It is one of a number of hollows which are visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and lies in an area of 'bumpy ground' which may be the result of more widespread extraction [2]. The features were digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.
