Full Description

A flat topped, grass covered mound situated on a hill top. Diameter 10.0m., height 1.0m. The only visible ditch is a modern one in the SE quadrant and in it is a fractured 3 water pipe which issues from the mound. Apart from the disturbance on the top of the mound, which probably results from excavation and the modern ditch referred to, the mound has not been mutilated. Its junction with the surrounding ground on the west appears to be too abrupt for the mound to be a natural feature. Immediately to the SW is a partially sunken Royal Observer Corps hut but it is considered that the mound is not spoil from this excavation. See air photograph CPE/UK/2431/3286. <1>

The site is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and was digitally plotted during the South Dorset Ridgeway Mapping Project. <2-3>
