Summary

An 'Old Chalk Pit' is shown on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map on the south eastern side of Whitesheet Hill. The site is associated with two limekilns. A large chalk pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project.

AAn 'Old Chalk Pit' is shown on the 1st edition 1:25-inch scale Ordnance Survey map on the south eastern side of Whitesheet Hill. The site is associated with two limekilns [1]. A large chalk pit is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery [2-3], it's extent in 1947 was digitally plotted during the Upper Frome and Sydling Valley AIM project. It is now much expanded.
