Summary

Bronze Age bowl barrow. This may be the barrow in which several urns were found in 1840. In 1972 this monument was reported as being approximately 30 feet in diameter, with a mound standing some 3 feet high. The record for this monument has been enhanced with support from Wessex Water. The barrow is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour AIM Project.

Full Description

Grinsell <1> records that two urns (nos 22 and 23, the latter with 4 cord loop-holes, in Durden catalogue) were found with several others in a barrow 3 feet high about 100 yards from Buzbury Camp in 1840. Probably this barrow.

ST 91790613 Bowl barrow in Buzbury Plantation is probably the barrow in which several urns were found in 1840 (Durden Catalogue, 18). It is 30 feet in diameter and 3 feet high. <2>
