Full Description

Four silver British coins, in good preservation, were dug up in the garden of J. J. Farquharson. <1>

A site where several ancient British coins were found, situated in the south corner of the enclosure of the vegetable garden, south east of Langton House. <3>

Four Iron Age coins have been found at Langton. Two are uninscribed silver staters of the Durotriges, Evans type F:1/2, Mack type 317, and were found in 1840. They were formerly in the Durden collection but are now in the Pitt Rivers Museum, Farnham. The other two are uninscribed bronze staters of the Durotriges, Evans type G:5/6, Mack type 318. <2> <6>

The site now falls in a disused kitchen garden and orchard. <5>

A number of finds indicative of Iron Age and Romano-British settlement are known from the parish, all on the lower slopes of the Stour valley. ... and at least four silver Durotrigian coins were found at 90500530. <7>
