Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features at Pamphill are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The features comprise a rectilinear bank approximately 8.8m wide and 188.5m long, with a narrow flanking ditch approximately 96m long on its southwewst side. A further 83m section of narrow rectilinear ditch is also visible on the same alignment to the southeast. The features extend in a straight line for a distance of over 322m on a NW-SE alignment and are presumed to be a section of the main agger of a Roman road between Badbury Rings and poole (NHRE Hob UID 1357593) along with sections of flanking ditches.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
