Summary

Banked and ditched linear features at Pamphill are visible on current Lidar imagery. The features extend in a straight line for a distance of over 322m on a NW-SE alignment and are presumed to be a section of the main agger of a Roman road between Badbury Rings and poole (NHRE Hob UID 1357593) along with sections of flanking ditches. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Banked and ditched linear features at Pamphill are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The features comprise a rectilinear bank approximately 8.8m wide and 188.5m long, with a narrow flanking ditch approximately 96m long on its southwewst side. A further 83m section of narrow rectilinear ditch is also visible on the same alignment to the southeast. The features extend in a straight line for a distance of over 322m on a NW-SE alignment and are presumed to be a section of the main agger of a Roman road between Badbury Rings and poole (NHRE Hob UID 1357593) along with sections of flanking ditches.

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
