Full Description
Ditched linear features to the southeast of Pound Farm are visible on aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise broad and slightly irregular ditched linears situated within a large irregular historic enclosure recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The character of the historic field boundaries suggests a probable medieval origin. The linear features sub-divide the enclosure and where they meet may form small enclosures. The features may be historic field boundaries, also of possible medieval origin, and may be associated with a possible medieval to post medieval building platform and pottery finds recorded under MDO33168. A small lozenge-shaped enclsoure is recorded in the northeast corner of the field on the OS 1st Edition map, although the relationship, if any, to the linear features is uncertain.
The site is still open fields on current Google Earth imagery, with the addition of a modern trackway, but the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
