Full Description

Ditched and banked linear features to the northeast of Pound Farm are visible on aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise a series of broad sinuous banks and a narrow sinuous linear ditch, which are situated within large irregular historic enclosures recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The linear ditch corresponds with the dotted line of a former historic field boundary recorded on theat map, whose slightly irregular character suggests a possible medieval origin. The features are considered likely to be historic field boundaries, also of possible medieval origin, although a later date for these is also possible.

The site is still open fields under crop on current Google Earth imagery and the features are still visible in certain years. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
