Summary

Banked and ditched linear features in Abbott Street Copse are visible on current Lidar imagery. The features comprise linear banks flanked by narrow linear ditches on either side, extending for a distance of just over 200m. They are thought be a section of the Roman road from Badbury Rings to Poole (NHRE Hob UID 1357593). The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Banked and ditched linear features in Abbott Street Copse are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).

The features comprise linear 9m wide banks flanked by narrower 3m wide linear ditches on either side, extending for a distance of just over 200m. They are thought be a section of the Roman road from Badbury Rings to Poole (NHRE Hob UID 1357593). The features are cut at their southern end by sections of two W-E and W-SE aligned hollow ways of possible medieval date (MDO41840).

The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
