Full Description
A series of irregular scarped hollows on the southeast side of Kingston Lacy Park are visible on current Lidar imagery (1).
The features extend across an area approximately 140m long by 40m deep. They are situated either side of a post medieval avenue of oak trees (MDO33174) although it is not clear from the available sources whether the avenue cuts the features or whether the features post date the avenue. The features are considered likely to be post medieval extractive pits. They were digitally plotted from current Lidar imagery by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
