Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features to the north of Kingston Lacy House are visible as parchmarks on aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise narrow linear parchmarks that form three sides of a sub-rectangular platform or structure 55m long by 45m wide, with additional linear features extending the east side to over 75m. Further short sections of ditched and banked linears to the southwest and east may be associated with these. The features may be settlement or garden earthworks of possible medieval origin; potentially comprising earthworks and surviving wall foundations associated with medieval manorial buildings recorded in the NHRE under Hob UID 1215617.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
