Summary

A sub-circular ditched feature to the west of Kingston Lacy is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. The feature is of uncertain origin but may be a Bronze Age barrow, or alternatively a post medieval extractive pit. It was digitally plotted from these sources by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

A sub-circular ditched feature to the west of Kingston Lacy is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs (1).

The feature comprises a sub-oval depression approximately 14.5m wide by 21.5m long. It is of uncertain origin but may be a Bronze Age barrow, although it may alternatively be of much more recent date, possibly a post medieval extractive pit.

The feature was digitally plotted from aerial photographs by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
