Summary

Ditched linear features to the west of Kingston Lacy Park are visible on aerial photographs. The features may be trackways of uncertain date, potentially between Iron Age and post medieval in origin. Alternatively these features may be of natural geological origin. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Ditched linear features to the west of Kingston Lacy Park are visible on aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise three narrow linear ditches of irregular form, running parallel and between 6m and 8m apart on a N-S axis. The features extend for over 230m, from the south side of a historic field boundary of probable post medieval origin (1).

The features may be trackways of uncertain date. They are situated within an area of settlement, trackways and field systems of probable late prehistoric date and may be features associated with these (e.g. MDOs 41687; 41688; 41689; 41692; 41765). Alternatively these features may be of natural geological origin.

The site is still fields on current Google Earth imagery. The features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
