Full Description
A large elongated rectilinear enclosure (450m by 95m) is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1954 on rough-ground to the south west of King Georges Playing Field, Ferndown (1). Fragments of an internal system of smaller fields are visible. The enclosute is marked on the OS 1st edition map as well as the modern mapping. It is no longer in use and considered to be part of a wider field system (MDO41714) to the north which may be of medieval or even earlier origin. The features were digitally plotted during the Dorset Stour NMP (2).
