Monument record MDO41672 - Bronze Age barrow, New Barn Farm, Shapwick

A ring ditch to the northwest of New Barn Farm is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. The feature is considered likely to be a Bronze Age barrow and was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

A ring ditch to the northwest of New Barn Farm is visible as a faint cropmark on aerial photographs <2>.

The feature is approximately 10.4m in diameter with a 1.2m wide outer ditch . The feature is considered likely to be a Bronze Age barrow; it is one of a close grouping of six similar features (See MDOs 41669 to 41674) and part of a wider concentration of Bronze Age barrows in the near vicinity.

The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

One of a cluster of seven ring ditches, partially enclosed by linear ditch 112,491, is visible on aerial photograph CUAP AXM58. It is probably the remains of a levelled Bronze Age round barrow and has an estimated diameter of 15m. Site levelled by ploughing no visible trace of the site on the ground.
