A post medieval extractive pit to the southeast of St Mary's Church, Sturminster Marshall, is visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-2)

The feature comprises a 55m long by 36m wide irregular hollow in the centre of a field. The features is visible on a 1946 aerial photograph and is still clearly defined on current Lidar imagery (1-2).

The feature was digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
