Full Description

Banked linear features on open ground at Broadstone, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise sections of narrow linear banks on a SW-NE alignment, situated on open ground recorded as heathland on the OS 1st Edition map (2). The features potentially link into hisotric trackways also recorded on the OS 1st Edition map but are cut at their southwest end by ditched linear features thought to be trackways of probbale post medieval origin (MDO41610). The features are considered likely to be sections of a historic trackway, or possibly a field boundary, of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible.

The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
