Full Description
An area of post medieval extraction on open ground at Corfe Mullen is visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).
The features comprise two small areas of what appears to be shallow surface extraction situated either side of a historic trackway recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). These include an irregular 19m by 19m depression on the south side of the trackway and an irregular linear scarp on the north side, possibly an extractive feature but also possibly of natural origin.
The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible, presumed levelled. The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
