Full Description
Ditched and banked linear features at Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs and current Lidar imagery (1-2).
The features comprise sections of narrow slightly curvilinear ditch flanked on either or both sides by corresponding sections of curvilinear banks. The features are broken by historic trackways of probable post medieval date, which cross the open heathland; one of these trackways is recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3). The features are also considered likely to be sections of a historic trackway of probable post medieval date, although an earlier origin for this is possible.
The features were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
