Summary

Ditched linear features at Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs. The features are considered likely to be post medieval drainage ditches and possibly field boundaries. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.

Full Description

Ditched linear features at Corfe Hills, Corfe Mullen, are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1).

The features comprise a series of interlinking linear and curvilinear ditches on an area of open ground on the south side of Corfe Hills and bordering a small historic farmstead and fields immediately to the south; recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (2). One of the linear ditches, on a SSE to NNW alignment, corresponds with a historic field boundary to the south (1). The features are considered likely to be post medieval drainage ditches and, possibly, field boundaries..

The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
