Full Description
Banked and ditched linear features at Corfe Mullen are visible on 1940s aerial photographs (1-2).
The features comprise broad curvilinear banks set perpendicular to each other on a broadly SE-NW axis. The features possibly correspond with post medieval field boundaries adjacent to the west and northeast, as recorded on the OS 1st Edition map (3). A broad linear ditch runs along the east side of one of the banked linears, also on a SW-NE alignment. Further interlinked linears are visible to the southwest. The features are considered likely to be post medieval field boundaries and drainage ditches.
The site is under housing on current Google Earth imagery and the features are no longer visible. They were digitally plotted by the Dorset Stour NMP project.
